Albert Di Iorio
In the fall of 1962, seventeen year old Albert Di Iorio made his way to Xavier University in Cincinnati where he graduated with a BS in Political Science. After a 1 1/2 year stop at St. Louis University Law School, in March of 1968 he switched focus to Kent State University pursuing a Master of Public Administration (MPA) which was Interrupted in August by a 19 month stint in the Army with a 14 month tour of duty in Vietnam. While in Vietnam, he was Company Clerk, the “Radar”, of his outfit which was constantly mortared and rocketed. “As long as you hear the rocket whistling over, you’re okay” was the favorite saying.
Completing his MPA in 1970, Albert then became the Republican candidate for Lake County Treasurer losing the election to a well entrenched incumbent. In 1972 he was the Bailiff in Lake County Common Pleas Court #1 resigning in 1979 to become the Administrative Assistant in the Community Development Department of the City of Painesville.
Utilizing his GI Bill he obtained a BS in Finance from Lake Erie College in 1976.
From 1982 to 1994, Albert owned the successful Chester Restaurant in Painesville. The restaurant was so popular that it was a featured TV segment on Del Donahoo’s, “Del’s Folks”.
In 1995, he was appointed Secretary/Treasurer of The Lake County Agricultural Society also known as The Lake County Fair, retiring in 2008. In 1999, Albert purchased the long established 86 year old Painesville area restaurant Hellriegel's Inn where he continues to greet customers to this day.

Jim and Kaaren McMahon and Albert DiIorio show off their summer attire at Hellriegel's Inn on August 20, 2016. They had a magnificent dinner on the newly designed garden patio followed by after-dinner drinks at Hellriegel's spacious bar. Jim and Kaaren again recommend that Latin graduates get to Hellriegel's for an incredible dining experience.
Jim Kroeger and Albert Di Iorio enjoy a meal on the Hellriegel patio (9/16/2016). Afterwards it was on to the outdoor patio bar for Bailey's and coffee while watching the Indians win another in their hunt for the post season. Go Indians, Go Cavs, and hopefully Go Browns !!!

It was a cold snowy night on November 19, 2016 just a day after a record high 75 degree day in Cleveland, but, as usual, the food and drinks were absolutely terrific at Albert Di Iorio's Hellriegel's Inn restaurant.
Left to Right: Albert Di Iorio, Sandy (Ignatius '62) and Judy Carran and Jim and Kaaren McMahon.
Forget Burt Reynolds.

Before leaving Muldoon's parking lot, Albert contemplated doing a burn-out in his 6.6 liter, 400 CID 1977 Pontiac Trans Am. He later decided to do the burn-out up his driveway once he got home since
Albert also likes showing off his car
in front of his neighbors.
Albert acquired the car in 1980 and has it in mint condition. He also drives a new white Cadillac CT5. Nice rides, Albert!!

Here's the story of Albert's Trans Am:
I bought my 1977 Trans Am in August 1980 for $2700. It has the original 6.6 litre, 400 cubic inch engine, 3 speed automatic transmission. I am the second owner and it had 69,000 miles when I bought it; now 177,000 but....I rebuilt the motor at 100,000 miles, installing a heavier cam, aluminum intake manifold, headers, and real dual exhausts. It still looks like a stock engine. I’ve been detail restoring it for the last 3 years.
I didn’t plan on keeping it for 42 years; it just happened cuz it was always my second car.
Fun to drive; lots of people fist pumping, thumbs up, or horn honking when they see it and I respond with a blast of my nonstock air horns.
