After graduating from St. Aloysius grade school, I became a member of the CLS class of 1962. The Charity game in 1961 will always be one of the highlights of our football years at CLS. On to Indiana State University, I played football for 4 years on scholarship and graduated with a BS and MS as well as a 6th year degree in Education. In 1967, Diana and I were married. Maureen, Melissa and Daniel Jr. are our children and now we have 4 grandchildren. We travel extensively to visit our family and see places of interest around the world. I taught 37 years at 3 high schools in Terre Haute and finished teaching Advanced Placement European History at Terre Haute South in 2002. During those years I was head coach in baseball, football, and wrestling. At the same time, I began refereeing all three sports including NCAA wrestling. After refereeing in the baseball and wrestling state finals, I continue to enjoy officiating to this day. I started the college wrestling program at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in 1977. As an adjunct professor for 8 years at Indiana State University and St. Mary of the Woods College in Terre Haute, I enjoyed working with future educators. It was a great honor to be named to the Indiana Governing Board of Directors for Advanced Placement Study, to be recipient of a Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Education, to be named Indiana Wrestling Official of the Year in 2004, to be inducted into the Terre Haute South Hall of Distinction in 2003, and the Wabash Valley Football Hall of Fame in 2015. My students and players often asked about my background and I have always been proud to tell them my tenacity came from the impact of CLS education. (3/28/2016)
