Bob Rustic
Upon graduating from Latin, I went to Ohio University where I earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and more importantly met my wife, Jeanne. I then went on to spend 33+ years in Industry in positions ranging from Industrial Engineering to Vice President Operations. I worked for several large International firms - Eastman Kodak, Columbia Broadcasting / Record Company, Hamilton Beach, Budd Company, Cummins Engine Co, and Bridgestone Corporation. During that time I also earned an MBA from Ohio State University. The last industry position I held was Vice President, Operations for Bridgestone APM - a wholly owned subsidiary of Bridgestone, Japan. I have traveled and worked in England, Scotland, Brazil, Mexico, Canada, and Japan. In 1999 (per our long term plan) I took an early retirement. Then, after being an adjunct faculty member for 15 previous years, I took a full time teaching position at The University of Findlay. I served as Assistant Professor of Business and Director of Business Management Programs. I received the David L. Allen Award for Teaching Excellence in 2008. I also served as “academic coach “in The Oiler Student Success Center. I was the faculty advisor for the Rotaract (student Rotary) club and the NCAA Faculty Athletics Representative. I finally retired (for good) in August of 2014.
Jeanne and I have been married for 47 years and counting. We have 3 married daughters and 8 grandchildren, including 2 sets of twins. I was actively involved in numerous community organizations including Rotary (Board member), Agency on Aging (Board member), United Way and The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation ( one of our granddaughters has CF). We recently moved to our lake house on Indian Lake (near Russells Point, Ohio). My hobbies include running (6 full marathons and numerous half marathons, 10ks and 5ks); golf; boating; travel; and, most importantly, spending time with my family

Short Message from Bob (1/1/2019)
We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary this past year. We live on Indian Lake in Central Ohio. The Marianist have a chapel here staffed by Marianist Brothers and Priests. Occasionally we get one of our former brothers or priests as a visitor. Most notably Brother/Father Chris Conlon a couple of years before he passed away. He made a point of calling me out during his sermon ( in front of my family and friends). Something about my study habits.

Bob sent us a pix of his tattoo
and this touching story..... Here is my tattoo . The “Just Breathe” notation and the Rose are in honor of our Granddaughter Alli who was born with Cystic Fibrosis (a genetic disease of the lungs). At her birth the doctors told us they hoped to find a cure in her lifetime. We (the entire family) promised each other that when this happened, we all would get tattoos. While there is still not a genetic cure, she was lucky enough to be put into a clinical trial 3 years ago for a new “corrector drug”. The drug has been remarkable, she has gone from almost 40 pills per day to only 1. She looks and acts like a normal 22-year-old. She will graduate from UD this May and start teaching in elementary school. That was good enough for us. All adults over 18 in our family now have similar tattoos. The rose is the symbol of Cystic Fibrosis. Since most children can’t say Cystic Fibrosis, they say "65 roses"! Bob Rustic (3/11/2023) Danny Borovac writes:

The Running Rustics
Thank you all for your warm comments regarding our granddaughter’s story. She really is an inspiration for our family.
FYI: Here is a recent picture of our family taken at our oldest granddaughter’s wedding in the UD chapel last October (2022). Alli is second from right in the front row. Her twin sister ,Abby, is on her right and her mom, our “middle daughter” , is on her left . The old grey-haired guy is me ! (posted 3/14/2023) |
The Rustic Clan

<Attached is a recent picture of my entire clan after our recent “ axe throwing experience” over Thanksgiving. Thankfully no one was injured 😀. We are blessed to have three successful and happily married daughters with great husbands and 8 grandchildren (one recently married, so I guess that’s now 9).
My wife ,Jeanne, and I are still going strong - healthy and enjoying our “Senior Years”. We still live on Indian Lake in central Ohio and are frequently visited at our little chapel by former CL teachers who are now retired priests living at The University of Dayton. We cruise and travel a lot - just got back from Japan and are headed to Scandinavia in July. We are currently vacationing in Treasure Island , Florida ( we’ve been going here for Jan. , Feb., and March, since 2020). Wish I could get back to Cleveland for one of the Friday get -togethers , maybe in the Spring or summer ! I really appreciate and enjoy your updates on the website. Go Latin Lions !!
