My second career was with IBM Global Finance travelling the nation and Europe as a collateral controls analyst. I stopped working for pay in 2008. Nadine, RN, retired in 2010 and is a two-year kidney transplant recipient.
In the interim we were blessed with two daughters and a son. The girls reside in the Boston area, one an electrical engineer with AMD, one the director of ESL for Boston Public Schools. Our son lives with us and has held several positions after giving up his amusement game business. We have five wonderful grandchildren whom we do not see anywhere near enough, but who do know where to call.
The Latin tradition has led me to share talents as President of the Newark Area Jaycees, 3rd and 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, Cub Scout leader, various functions at our churches ranging from Sunday school, lecture, Eucharistic minister and long term planning chairman. Currently I serve as chair for the Naperville Branch of the Fox Valley SCORE Chapter, mentoring small business and startups to succeed. Also serving as president of our Naperville subdivision.
Both of my brothers were Latin Lions also: Tony (’57) is a retired USAF Major in Orlando, FL (attends the Tampa lunch group) and John (’65), also USAF, retired businessman and credit executive in Garfield Heights, OH.
I enjoy reading the bios from the rest of the class. It seems we share many of the good and bad that life has sent our way, but find the greatest comfort in family. And while life no doubt has a good deal more to send us, we’ll remain grounded in the values we believe, love and doing good works.
